The radiology technician provides standard x-rays for work-related injuries and surveillance physicals. The Radiologic Technologist will perform general radiographic procedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. They will ensure compliance with all SC DHEC Title B Rules and Regulations for Radiation Control. The Radiologic Technologist serves as a liaison between patients, licensed practitioners, and support team members. They must remain sensitive to patient needs through effective communication, assessment, monitoring, and care. As part of the healthcare team, they participate in quality improvement processes and continually assess their professional performance. Minimum Requirements
Education Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology Experience None required License/Registration/Certifications Registered by ARRT as an RT(R) SCRQSA Certification Current CPR certification Preferred Requirements
Preferred Education Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology Preferred Experience 1-2 years’ experience in a physician practice setting Preferred License/Registration/Certifications None specified Core Job Responsibilities
Maintain a high level of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques. Apply and maintain knowledge of radiation safety and protection. Ensure proper maintenance of imaging equipment. Demonstrate understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Perform patient care activities, including greeting patients, obtaining vital signs, and medical history. Triaging patients based on severity of need. Perform procedures such as EKGs and pulse oximetry. Set up surgical trays, clean surgical instruments, and sterilize equipment. Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections after demonstrating clinical competency. Maintain cleanliness and stock examination rooms. Review lab reports, identify abnormalities, and alert physicians accordingly. Manage supplies needed for imaging by coordinating with the Practice Manager. Schedule imaging appointments at other facilities as directed. Communicate with patients regarding lab reports and follow-up actions, documenting all discussions. Handle patient calls related to prescriptions, referrals, and insurance preauthorizations. Coordinate with reception for efficient scheduling. Ensure all procedures and tests are properly ordered. Attend educational seminars to stay current with imaging practices and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned.
