Job Summary Under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer, the AT provides sports‑medicine support for student athletes. The AT works with athletes, coaches, and strength‑and‑conditioning staff to prevent, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate injuries, collaborating with physicians and other health‑care professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced injury‑prevention training, evaluation, and rehabilitation to intercollegiate and club athletes.

Administer first‑aid and maintain medical coverage at games, competitions, and practice sessions.

Document injuries and maintain accurate medical charts.

Refer injured athletes to physicians or other medical services as needed.

Assist in developing, coordinating, and administering a comprehensive sports‑medical program for intercollegiate athletics.

Support equipment and facility maintenance related to athletic training.

Travel to on‑ and off‑campus events and recruitment as required (up to 50% travel).

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a CAATE‑accredited athletic‑training education program.

Proficient computer skills relevant to daily tasks.

Strong knowledge of athletic‑injury prevention, therapeutic modalities, and rehabilitation techniques.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive information.

Proficiency with electronic medical‑record systems.

Knowledge of NCAA and NAIA rules and standards for sports‑medicine practice.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong teamwork, organizational, and time‑management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field.

Experience evaluating primary insurance coverage for athletes.

Additional Information Budgeted Salary: $87,780 per year (prorated to 10 months). Full benefits. Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Primary location: UC Santa Cruz Main Campus. Travel up to 50% of the time.
