is seeking
motivated and experienced applicants
for the position of
Dental Assistant Supervisor . The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of dental assisting activities within the department, support faculty and residents in the delivery of high-quality patient care and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards. Ideal applicants should demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a commitment to excellence in dental education and patient service.
This is a Civil Service Position.
Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required.
This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months

Job Duties
Supervises Dental Assistants 2 and dental assistant students (externs)
Maintains organization in the department making sure that all dental students/residents are able to work with the proper number of assistants.
Reports directly to the Director of Clinical Staff and Patient Services.
Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
Maintain and stock cabinet
Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
Chart patients according to LSUSD systems
Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
Place rubber dam as directed by dentist or student.
Remove cement supragingivally from dental restorations and fixed restorations with hand instruments only as directed by the dentist or student.
Implement and maintain infection control in the work area.
Check inventory and order supplies when needed.
Implement and follow safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of Dentistry and OSHA.
Know dental terminology.
Know correct nomenclature of all dental instruments.
Knowledgeable of computers.
