Medical Assistant II – Gastroenterology
Full Time – Weymouth, MA – Atrius Health (Libbey 1)
Summary Under general supervision, provides direct clinical and clerical support to surgeons and procedural clinicians. Performs room preparation, sterile field maintenance, and assists with minor surgical and operative procedures. Supports pre‑ and post‑procedural office visits and specialized equipment operation.
Education / Certifications High School diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC). Medical Assistant certification required; Associate’s degree in medical assisting preferred. Bachelor’s degree with healthcare interest and strong problem‑solving may substitute for certification. BLS strongly preferred; ACLS may be required based on specialty.
Experience Three years in a clinical setting, at least one as a Medical Assistant. Proficient with word processing and spreadsheets. EMR experience or aptitude to master EMR systems required.
Skills Professional communication. Knowledge of sharps and biohazard handling. Proficient in setting up sterile fields, assisting with FNA, and handling lab specimens. Ability to operate autoclave and specialized equipment. Exceptional patient service focus.
