Job Summary Responsible for claims billing, follow‑up on claim denials and outstanding accounts receivable.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent work experience or training.
Follow‑up payer billing experience. History of successful payor denial appeals.
Experience with government and third‑party payors, including current regulations, time limitations and procedures.
Good verbal and written communication skills. Documents and reports are clear, concise and well‑structured.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicare Risk, Tricare and VA Plans is required.
Extensive knowledge of Medi‑Cal, CCS and Medi‑Cal Managed Care Plans is required.
Analytical skills to assess account balances and determine further action.
Knowledge of medical terminology to correlate reports to charges and determine appropriateness of denials.
General knowledge of credit and collection practices.
Knowledge of basic accounting practices.
Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and ICD‑9 policies related to medical billing.
Math skills to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to read and comprehend department policy, internal and external correspondence.
Writing skills to compose internal and external correspondence.
Proofreading skills to identify and correct own errors.
Communication skills to respond to account inquiries, both in person and over the telephone, and communicate effectively with all internal and external customers.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with employees and administration.
Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure to meet deadlines set by the department, government programs or private insurance carriers.
Ability to be flexible in a quickly changing environment.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Keyboarding skills to operate computer terminal and PC; prepare internal and external correspondence and forms as required.

Solid working knowledge of Epic Professional Billing Resolute.
Ability to analyze and interpret various types of Explanation of Benefits and Remittance Advice.
