Dental Hygienist Job Summary
Dental hygienists perform regular cleanings and thorough exams to assist the dentist in treatment planning. Responsibilities include taking x-rays, educating patients on home care, and conducting regular screenings. Responsibilities
Review oral health history and conduct initial mouth screening Perform oral cancer screenings Utilize state-of-the-art technology (Itero, digital X-Rays, cone beam imaging, paperless office) Expose, develop and mount dental radiographs Perio charting on new patients and yearly visits Follow ADHA perio guidelines; perform root planing and myofunctional evaluations Administer nitrous oxide and oxygen as applicable Take impressions for diagnostic and opposing models Educate patients on preventative care and home care Proficient use of Cavitron Maintain detailed and organized patient charts Prepare treatment rooms (setup, decontamination, sterilization, restocking) Daily Duties
Chart patient information and review medical history Record previous visit details and plan procedures accordingly Coordinate with CDHC on paperwork and consents needed to treat Screen and treat patients; screen all patients for Covid-19 Take appropriate x-rays (Nomad and Dexis sensors) Take intraoral photos (at least 3 per patient) Provide oral hygiene instruction (OHI), sealant placement when applicable Prophylaxis and hand scaling; perform caviton as needed Fluoride placement and SDF when applicable Motivational interviewing and caries risk assessment educate on goal setting for oral health with patient and caregiver Chart all procedures and use applicable codes Make dietary and fluoride recommendations Prepare operatory Space and supplies to ensure uninterrupted treatment time Set up and maintain instrument trays and barriers per infection control guidelines Complete and sign patient treatment plans; coordinate next steps with CDHC Dispense age-appropriate oral hygiene aids if available Ensure sterilization of instruments and safe transport Adhere to infection control guidelines per CCHC/OHSA/ADA Keep logs up to date Education & Qualifications
Dental Hygiene certification from an accredited program Current Dental Hygiene license for the employed state Current BLS CPR certification OSHA, HIPAA and infection control training (annual) Excellent customer service, professionalism and integrity Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; conflict resolution Strong organization, planning and analytical skills Ability to multi-task and remain calm in a rapidly changing environment Computer proficiency and ability to learn new programs Company Description
