Infection Preventionist role at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, located at SOUTHERN OCEAN MEDICAL CENTER, Manahawkin, New Jersey. Requisition # 2025-171314. Shift: Day. Status: Per Diem. Responsibilities

Supports organization-wide infection surveillance, prevention and control program in accordance with current requirements of regulatory, government and accrediting/licensing agencies and organizational policies and procedures. Duties include surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs); collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of surveillance data; implementing organizational performance improvement initiatives; outbreak investigation; educating Team Members (TMs) and patients; and annual evaluation of the Infection Prevention program. Program Development and Implementation: in collaboration with the Infection Prevention leadership develops, implements, and evaluates the organizational infection prevention program. Surveillance and Reporting: conducts surveillance of hospital-acquired infections (NHSN definitions); records and reports communicable diseases; develops annual surveillance plans and risk assessments; uses epidemiologic principles to investigate and implement control measures for outbreaks. Policy and Education: participates in development, interpretation, and implementation of infection prevention policies and procedures; delivers education to staff and patients; develops education goals and evaluates program effectiveness. Compliance and Regulatory: ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; facilitates compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., NHSN, Joint Commission); stays current on infection prevention standards. Performance Improvement and Patient Safety: applies PI methods, selects appropriate PI tools, analyzes process and outcome measures, performs root cause analysis on HAIs, and participates in PI committees and initiatives. Occupational Health and Collaboration: assesses occupational exposure risks, collaborates with Occupational Health on exposures and work restrictions as needed; collaborates with departments and public health officials to improve infection prevention across the organization. Education and Outreach: designs and delivers formal and informal educational programs; assesses learning needs and measures outcomes. IPC Informatics: familiar with infection prevention software and technology; collaborates with IT to create meaningful electronic reports. Professional Accountability: pursues ongoing professional development, maintains certifications, sets annual goals, and advocates for patient safety and high reliability practices. Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required B.S. Degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, Medical Technology, Health Care Administration or related field. 2 years of experience in clinical/patient care services or relevant health care position. Familiar with software technologies (e.g. Excel, MS Word, NHSN, etc). Analytical and problem-solving abilities; collaboration; strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to implement evidence-based guidelines; conflict resolution; program and project management; data collection and analysis, report writing and data presentation. Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred CIC certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology; if not CIC certified, must be certified in infection control within 5 years of beginning practice and maintain certification with CBIC as per NJ DOH licensing standards. Compensation Minimum rate of $2,388.88 Annually.
