This description reflects the Radiology Technologist responsibilities in the Emergency Center setting. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Maintains awareness of all departmental and operational policies of NEC. Assists in the maintenance of all equipment in the department, including cleaning and QA procedures. Explains to patients the benefits and risks of procedures and exams. Prepares patients for examinations (e.g., contrast, proper IV placements, checking labs). Facilitates departmental operations through completion of all appropriate forms related to prepared exams (contrast, extravasations, pregnancy, etc.). Maintains safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self. Maintains current knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology / CT procedures performed in the Radiology Department. Possesses basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology to apply radiology principles and exposure methods to obtain diagnostic-quality images. Possesses basic knowledge of radiology/CT equipment functioning to provide minor repair and troubleshooting. Proficient in the utilization of radiological/lab equipment in the ER. Uses proper body mechanics when moving patients and equipment to prevent injury. Applies radiology safety principles in position responsibilities. Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance when needed. Communicates problems/concerns to appropriate personnel. Provides safe transportation of patients to and from the patient care unit. Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited approved school of Radiologic Technology. Experience: At least 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience and CT experience. Licenses/Certifications: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Current State licensure; Current BCLS Certification. Texas requirements: ARRT (R) (CT) and TDH/TMB; Colorado and Rhode Island requirements: ARRT (R) (CT). Language/Math/Reasoning Ability
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information effectively to customers, clients, and colleagues. Ability to perform basic math and interpret data and graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Other
