A Brief Overview The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for producing two-dimensional and three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal structures, analyzing hemodynamics, and communicating findings to the interpreting physician to assist with the diagnosis of the patient.

Education Qualifications

Completion of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program through an accredited organization or on the job training in ultrasound that led to registry. Required

Experience Qualifications

Customer service experience. Preferred

Experience in Ultrasound Preferred

Experience in a hospital or clinical setting. Preferred

Skills And Abilities

Experience utilizing imaging equipment

Licenses and Certifications

Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - ARDMS ARRT-Sonography or CCI-Sonography are also accepted dependent upon department. Required

Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.

What you will do

Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations using sonographic skills to identify, document, and adapt examinations as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic criteria.

Uses independent judgment during the ultrasound exam to accurately obtain diagnostic images necessary to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings and communicates findings to the interpreting radiologist.

Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients. Introduces self to patient, properly identifies patient utilizing two identifiers, and explains the ultrasound examination being performed.

Selects proper imaging transducer and equipment and operates effectively, efficiently, and safely. Selects and adds correct associated examination charges as needed. Coordinates examinations by priority while efficiently performing exams in a sequence which minimizes the patient’s stay in the hospital.

Demonstrates knowledge of proper low-level and high-level disinfections process and performs necessary cleaning and disinfection process of all equipment as required by hospital protocol.

Responsible for completion of mandatory educational assignments and competencies as assigned by manager.

Participates in training of colleagues and sonography students as directed.

Rotating call is a requirement of the position.

Travel Requirements

20% Travel to satellite locations as necessary.
