Dental Assistant

Advantage Health Centers Pay range - $19 to $22 per hour, based on experience. Position summary:
Position works directly with and under the supervision of the Dentist in providing general dental services. To assist the Dentist in providing clinical dental services and outreach community services in metropolitan Detroit. Responsibilities
Knowledge of dental terminology, dental materials and instruments; efficient in room set-up for restorative, oral surgery, pedo, crown, and endo a plus Preparing patients for dental health services and instructing them in appropriate post dental treatment, diet and oral hygiene Promptly following all instructions from the dentist dealing with patient comfort Taking inventory, stocking all supplies, instruments and medications and the ordering of said items Knowledge and proficiency of digital x-rays Performing required laboratory procedures, i.e., taking dental impressions, pouring plaster models, etc. Proficiency with using fourhanded assisting technique Maintaining dental equipment and operatories in good, clean condition at all times Maintain the instruments and working areas in strict accordance with sterilization/disinfection protocols per OSHA guidelines Cross-training in other dental support positions as necessary, i.e., reception, oral surgery, etc. Other duties as assigned by the Dental Director as it pertains to the Dental Department Maintain personnel protection per OSHA guidelines as it pertains to personnel safety, i.e., protective clothing, eyewear, gloves To participate in in-service training, department and general staff meetings and clinics To have a genuine desire to improve your current skills and to actively pursue continuing educational opportunities Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid State of Michigan Registered Dental Assistant license (preferred) Possession of high school diploma or equivalent Completion of a dental assist training academic program, or Minimum 2 years chair side dental assistance experience (references required) Evidence of current CPR certification or obtain by end of introductory period (AHC provides BLS sessions) Possession of current valid Michigan identification or drivers license Punctuality, accuracy, efficiency and professionalism OSHA course Emergency medicine course Seniority level
