Overview
The Central Jersey Medical Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center serving Central NJ, is seeking a full-time Dental Hygienist. Our mission is to provide dental services to patients regardless of their ability to pay, race, ethnicity, and cultural background. By joining our team, you will deliver excellent patient care in a positive work environment. The candidate will provide quality dental care and related services to patients under the general supervision of a dentist, following established dental hygiene procedures. They will also assist other staff with various patient care, office, and laboratory duties, and participate in community dental health education activities.
Position Location:
Perth Amboy Responsibilities Essential Functions Provide direct patient care and dental services as trained, licensed, and assigned. Assess dental condition and needs using approved screening procedures, including medical history review, dental charting, and periodontal charting. Evaluate overall oral health, examining for signs of periodontal disease or possible cancers, including recessed & bleeding gums, and oral lesions. Expose, process, and mount radiograph films. Document dental history or chief complaints; record observations and patient reactions for review by dentists. Record lab procedures and ensure follow-up on results. Perform oral hygiene procedures according to treatment plans, including prophylaxis, periodontal scaling, root planning, debridement, and application of fluoride treatments and sealants. Assist with or initiate emergency measures during patient treatment. Conduct dental health clinics for community groups to support dental services. Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment. Educate patients on oral hygiene, dental care, proper brushing, flossing, nutrition, and the importance of professional care. Demonstrate commitment to the organization’s mission in promoting dental health. Interact positively with diverse and sometimes challenging patients, providing age-appropriate care and addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs. Maintain patient records and administrative documentation accurately. Use appropriate tools, systems, technology, and equipment for data collection, records management, and collections. Understand dentistry procedures, infection control, sterilization, tray setup, and materials. Apply knowledge of oral hygiene concepts and periodontal therapies. Qualifications Successful completion of an accredited dental hygienist program. Current NJ State Registered Dental Hygienist license. Current CPR and radiation safety certifications.
