Are you passionate about supporting the development of infants and toddlers with disabilities? Join the City of Hampton’s Infant Toddler Connection Program as an Early Intervention Clinician. In this role, you will deliver consultative and direct services to children from birth to age three with various developmental challenges, including autism, Down syndrome, and atypical development. You'll help create and implement Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) that support families in natural environments using evidence-based practices.
The purpose of the class is to provide consultative and direct services to Individuals with Disabilities birth to age three in the Infant Toddler Connection Program. Disabilities may include deafness, blindness, Autism, Down syndrome, atypical development and other physical, mental and emotional challenges. The class works under limited supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct developmental assessments and eligibility determinations Provide coaching and developmental support in natural settings Collaborate with families to track progress on IFSP goals Offer training on child development and family rights Participate in outreach, home visits, and multidisciplinary teaming Maintain accurate documentation and quality assurance records Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related human services field. Preferred licensure from the Virginia Board of Education in any of the following areas is acceptable: Special Education /Early Childhood (birth-5), Early/Primary Education (pre-K – 3), Child Care Occupations, Work and Family Studies, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment or a Technical Professional License in Work and Family Studies, Licensed Clinical Social Worker A minimum of one year experience in the field of early intervention, prevention, and day care services or closely related Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria Must successfully pass a Child Protective Services Check. Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to an offer of employment or promotion. This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy Additional Requirements: Must obtain, within a prescribed period of time, and maintain State Part C Early Intervention EI Professional license If you do not have the preferred Virginia Board of Education Licensure, then you must obtain, within a prescribed period of time, the AAFCS certification The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee, which may include long hours and unusual schedules
