Job Details
The Respiratory Therapist I performs medically prescribed general and intermediate respiratory care as a member of the multi‑disciplinary health care team under the guidance and direction of the Manager, Pediatric Respiratory Care with oversight by the Respiratory Care Supervisor and in consultation with their assigned RT III. The RT I will provide respiratory care commensurate with their “Verification of Education” competencies filed with the state board.
Professional duties may include:
Oxygen therapy
Pulse Oximetry
Medicated Aerosols by all methods
Airway Clearance techniques
Suctioning
Non‑Invasive Ventilation
Bedside Pulmonary Function Testing
Capillary Blood Gas Sampling
Educational duties include:
Breathing Techniques
Home Care Instruction
Asthma Education
Smoking Counseling
Emergency intervention includes:
Basic Airway intervention
Bag and Mask Ventilation
CPR
Emergency Department Medicated Aerosol administration
Additional duties: Equipment cleaning, supply stocking and assisting other RT III’s as needed. Professional duties will not include advancing or changing therapy frequency in patients on protocol based care; this must be adjusted by the assigned RT III.
