Position Summary The Skate Guard will ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors at the ice rink, maintaining a fun and secure environment for guests of all ages and skill levels.

Primary Responsibilities

Actively monitor the ice and remind skaters to follow all safety guidelines and rink rules.

Address unsafe behavior and assist skaters, including beginners or those who have fallen.

Educate skaters about rink rules and encourage compliance.

Assist with proper use of gear such as helmets and skates.

Respond to and notify management of incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercations.

Provide basic first aid for minor injuries.

Alert management and assist with emergency situations as needed.

Assist with special events, including set‑up, monitoring, and clean‑up.

Deliver courteous and friendly service to all guests and staff.

Know facility details, prices, services, promotions, and events.

Enforce facility policies, procedures, and rules.

Maintain cleanliness of the ice and surrounding area.

Report maintenance issues to management.

Assist other departments and complete special projects as directed.

The Ideal Candidate

2‑4 years of experience in the sports/recreation field.

Detail‑oriented with strong safety compliance.

Background in coaching or mentoring athletes or children.

Proven teamwork and leadership skills.

Experience in customer service and organization.

Action‑oriented, efficient, and gets things done.

Minimum Qualifications

First‑Aid/CPR certification.

Ability to work with a wide variety of age groups.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong focus and multitasking in a fast‑paced environment.

Outstanding guest service and organizational skills.

Calm, focused under stress.

Respectful and friendly towards athletes, guests, and team members.

Willingness to take personal initiative for team and facility improvement.

Preferred: Previous experience as a Skate Guard or similar role.

Flexible to irregular shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions And Physical Demands

Lift up to 40 pounds waist high.

Sit or stand for extended periods; squat, stoop, or bend as required.

Work in cold environments for prolonged periods.

Repeated skating, walking, and intermittent noise.
