is excited to announce an opportunity for Clinical Psychologist to support the needs of the

Wellstar South Cobb

market in Austell, GA.

Located in south Cobb County, Wellstar Cobb Hospital is a 382-bed hospital serving a diverse west Atlanta suburban population. Wellstar Cobb offers a continuum of psychiatric services, including a free-standing 32-bed adult inpatient behavioral health unit, a 7-day per week consultation-liaison psychiatry service, and a new outpatient psychiatric clinic.

Wellstar Health System seeks a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality psychological assessment, therapy, and consultation services to patients in outpatient or inpatient settings. This role focuses on enhancing patients’ mental health and well-being while contributing to a collaborative care environment.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct psychological evaluations and diagnostic assessments to develop individualized treatment plans. Provide evidence-based psychotherapy (individual, group, and/or family) for diverse mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic health conditions. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic patient care. Offer crisis intervention and risk assessment, including safety planning for patients experiencing acute psychological distress. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with ethical, legal, and organizational standards. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and continuing education to maintain and enhance professional competencies. Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment strategies. Contribute to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities as appropriate.

Qualifications

Education: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited program. Licensure: Active and unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state of Georgia (or eligibility for licensure). Experience: Minimum of 2 years post-doctoral experience preferred. Experience in healthcare or hospital settings is highly desirable. Skills: Strong knowledge of psychological theories, assessment tools, and evidence-based therapies. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Bilingual abilities are a plus. Specialized training or certification in areas such as trauma-informed care, neuropsychology, or health psychology.

Overview Of Duties/Responsibilities

This is a full-time 40 hour per week position.
