The Department of Athletics is looking for a candidate to fill an Athletic Trainer I position. This position will develop, implement, evaluate and maintain comprehensive health care programs for student-athletes in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Evaluate injuries in order to design and execute appropriate rehabilitation exercises. Educate and counsel coaching staffs, athletes, physicians co-workers, students, parents, media, and consultants. Maintain and implement comprehensive preventive physical conditioning programs for the student-athletes. Administer emergency care and makes medical referrals. Organize and maintain daily medical records, including daily treatment logs and prescription drug logs using a computerized sports injury management program. Travel with team and provide medical care while on the road. Ensure that University, NCAA, federal and state policies, procedures, and/or regulations are followed. Instruct and evaluate athletic training students. Other administrative duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Masters in Physical Education with relevant coursework in athletic training; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
