Job Purpose and Mission Provide inpatient physical rehabilitation services to all patients at a level consistent with BRRH mission, vision and values. Administer nursing care to designated patients under the direction/supervision of a Registered Nurse. Perform a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties in accordance with the needs of the age population served as defined in the department's scope of care.
Essential Job Functions
Perform patient care according to standards of care and the needs of the patient.
Collect data from patient and family for RN evaluation and development of a teaching plan.
Teach family and patients.
Safely and properly administer medications as ordered by physician.
Perform treatments as prescribed by physician.
Use the nursing care plan in daily assignments, review and, under supervision, modify the plan of care.
Direct and assist ancillary nursing staff with assigned duties.
Monitor IVs and blood for proper functioning and report any untoward side effect to the RN immediately.
Start IVs as ordered by physician.
Recognize patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.
Collect data essential to RN assessment and report deviations from normal to the RN.
Assist with reassessing patient according to unit standards and/or hospital policy, as patient needs dictate and report pertinent changes in patient status to the RN.
Maintain patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical treatment.
Document appropriately in all assigned patient records.
Accurately document medication administration, treatments, collected data, interventions, and unusual occurrences.
Complete documentation before end of shift.
Demonstrate ability to observe and record the signs, symptoms, and behaviors including the physiological status of patients.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Current LA license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
CPR Certified
