Job Overview
Fairview Range is hiring a Sonographer to join our Diagnostic Imaging department in Hibbing, MN. The Sonographer ensures the performance of quality diagnostic sonogram studies and controls the progression of procedures and patient flow through the Ultrasound Department. The Sonographer works closely with other imaging modalities to provide world-class patient care to the Iron Range.
With imaging services at Fairview Range Medical Center and the Fairview Mesaba clinics, we serve patients in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. We provide a vast array of imaging services including x-ray, CT, MRI, mammography, fluoroscopy, and pain management, as well as ultrasound and nuclear medicine.
Schedule:
This position is part time, 40-71 hours per two weeks. Flexible scheduling options - combination of 8, 10, or 12 hour Day/Evening shifts may be options and will be discussed during the interview process to best fit the employee and department. This position does include holidays as well as rotating weekends on call (expect one weekend a month) and includes overnight call. Options exist to pick up additional call if desired.

About this Unit
4 ultrasound exam rooms, including 1 room equipped for echo’s
Top of the line equipment including GE LOGIQ E10 machines with a wide variety of transducers, Trophon 2, and ergonomic ultrasound chairs
Wide variety of scans and procedures performed, including abdomen, small parts, breast, vascular, ABI’s, and OB/GYN level IIs in partnership with Maternal Fetal Medicine at M Health Fairview
Average of 20-35 patients per day, including scheduled, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings performed via portable scanner
American College of Radiology Ultrasound accreditation
Multidisciplinary team including sonographers, echocardiographer, radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, RNs, Radiologists, and medical imaging assistants
Patient population served: all
Responsibilities
Ensure quality diagnostic sonograms, echocardiograms and vascular studies
Operate equipment using proper technical factors and imaging modes
Assure care for the physical and psychological needs of the patient by maintaining proper position, monitoring and transferring techniques
Evaluate sonograms properly and provide Radiologist with patient histories and pertinent information as needed
Keep current on advancing technologies and equipment in the field of ultrasound and make preparations for performing new exams
Review, evaluate and quantify examination findings based on normal and abnormal values for all Ultrasound studies, with consideration of technical and examination limitations
Possess precise familiarity with the anatomy
Explain procedure to patient prior to the exam performed
Assume responsibility for contacting maintenance and service personnel concerning the ultrasound equipment
Offer patient surveys to every outpatient
Required Qualifications
Registered or registry eligible Ultrasound ARDMS or ARRT required
General ultrasound experience preferred
Willingness to learn a wide variety of ultrasound procedures that exist in the rural healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with a wide variety of ultrasound procedures
ARDMS/ARRT Certified
