Overview
The MGB Center for Sports Medicine is an exciting new initiative to build a nationally recognized and regional leader in sports medicine. It combines a broad existing set of sports medicine capabilities across the MGB system with an incremental investment program to expand and grow the business. The Athletic Trainer provides medical coverage of athletic training room duties and athletic events for a local high school athletic program. They will be responsible for assessing injured athletes and providing appropriate medical treatment. The Athletic Trainer will collaborate with the Director of Athletics and Team Physician for the assigned program. The Athletic Trainer filling this position would perform their day-to-day duties at Frontier Regional HS with clinical support from Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Responsibilities
Comprehensive management of Sports Medicine Program at the assigned program (high school) Provision of immediate assessment and care for injuries for the school’s interscholastic athletic teams Plan, implement, evaluate and modify appropriate preconditioning, conditioning and reconditioning programs for athletes as defined in MGL c. 112, s. 23A. Review all pre-participation medical forms and information relevant to student-athletes\' initial medical clearance to participate in interscholastic athletic program Provide athletic training services to student athletes participating in sports (games and practices) held at home sites and away sites Coordinate practice/event coverage for the Athletic Department. Communicate with appropriate parties regarding the schedule of events for the athletic department Communicate with athletic administration, coaches, parents, primary care physicians, and specialists regarding injury diagnosis, treatment, injury trends, medical and health alerts, etc. as needed regarding specific athletes Document and track athletic injuries via the established documentation system and manage the database of injury incidence Design, implement and carry out injury prevention programs with student athletes, based on sport-specific injury trend reports Use the Mass General Brigham values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors (Patients, Affordability, Accountability & Service Commitment, Decisiveness, Innovation & Thoughtful Risk; Diversity & Inclusion, Integrity & Respect, Learning, Continuous Improvement & Personal Growth, Teamwork & Collaboration) Other duties as assigned Qualifications
