Location Sanford Broadway Medical Center – Fargo, ND (801 Broadway N, Fargo, ND 58102)

Job Summary Performs echocardiography tests and procedures in accordance with American Society of Echocardiography standards. Prepares patients for exams, operates ultrasound equipment, and produces and records images for medical diagnosis. Conducts routine cardiac ultrasound procedures across clinic, hospital, and mobile sites. Supervises and trains students and junior sonographers as needed. Adheres to safety, infection control, HIPAA, and internal standards.

Responsibilities

Operate ultrasound equipment to capture cardiac images.

Explain procedures and position patients appropriately.

Prepare oral and written preliminary summary of findings for interpreting physicians.

Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment.

Train and supervise students and peer sonographers.

Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, HIPAA, and accreditation requirements.

Assist with Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) accreditation maintenance.

Qualifications

When working or hired in South Dakota: Graduate from an accredited two‑year cardiac ultrasound program.

When working or hired in North Dakota: Graduate from an accredited cardiac sonography program or have one year of work experience in cardiac sonography preferred; on‑the‑job training may be considered.

When working in Minnesota: Graduate from an accredited two‑year cardiac ultrasound program or hold a bachelor’s degree with one year equivalent experience.

In all other states: Minimum of one year equivalent work experience or an allied‑health certificate/diploma.

Credentialing: ARDMS, CCI, or registry‑eligible within 12–18 months of hire depending on state; ARRT acceptable in other states.

North Dakota residents performing medical imaging or radiation therapy must hold NDMIRT Board licensure.

Valid driver’s license with good driving record required for mobile outreach services.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and renewed as required.
