Floor Care: Provide basic and specialty cleaning services to all areas of the hospital, focusing primarily on the operations of heavy mechanical equipment (e.g., scrubbers, buffers, polishers, extractors, wet vacuuming equipment, etc.) used in the cleaning and maintenance of hard and soft (carpet) flooring surfaces, including stairwells, hallways and public spaces. Specialty Units: Provide a safe care environment for patients, staff and visitors within specialty areas (surgical services, perioperative suite, cath lab, endoscopy, etc.) by demonstrating principles of cleaning, disinfection and quality assurance to reduce harmful pathogens. Other: Responsibilities may also include work in the Environmental Services Tech I classification. Perform all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting. Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control standards while promoting a culture of safety. Clean and disinfect specialty units & equipment, including Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health and Burn Unit. Demonstrate working knowledge of health‑care cleaning and disinfecting principles, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling and labor‑saving products for all items within the specialty environment. Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics. Follow all environmental and infection prevention practices (proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of PPE). Identify and utilize appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved. Requirements
Strong communication skills; ability to read, write and speak English. Basic computer skills required. Ability to distinguish the differences between levels of disinfection and perform low and intermediate level disinfection. Explain orally or in writing the differences between levels of disinfection and perform intermediate level disinfection where required. Knowledge and skills in the use of power equipment, conventional and high‑speed floor machines, carpet cleaning equipment, wet, dry and power vacuum equipment and push sweeper. Operate necessary equipment/machines effectively. Use computers and mobile devices effectively. Respectfully listen to viewpoints and ideas of others. Communicate openly and candidly, creating an environment where co‑workers and team members reciprocate in kind. Work without close supervision. Schedule
Saturday – Sunday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm Physical Requirements
Medium work – Exert up to 50 lbs force occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, or up to 10 lbs constantly. Location
