Position Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for an advance step placement.

Employees working in this job classification will promote to salary range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court.

Responsibilities This position will process District and Superior Court criminal files from open to close. You will accept charging documents, issue summons and/or arrest warrants, calendar cases for arraignment, coordinate prisoner transport, and enter information into the case management system.

You will also respond to inquiries in writing, in person, or by phone from court personnel, attorneys, other agencies, and the general public regarding policies, procedures, and rules on all criminal matters. Additionally, you will be responsible for running designated reports, receipting monies for bail, fines, court cost, and restitution, and serve as back up in-court clerk as needed.

Work Hours Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience.

Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.

Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.

Education If post-secondary education is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications, you must fill in the Education and Training section of the application. Selection Procedure Applicants will be required to meet the Minimum Qualifications as outlined above. Unfortunately, we cannot always interview all applicants.
