Licensed Veterinary Technicians are team players who are dedicated to providing high caliber Veterinary Care by assisting the Veterinarian(s). As an LVT, you will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians, ensuring the health and wellbeing of animals, and contributing to the overall efficiency of veterinary practice. Responsibilities

Provides compassionate care to feline and canine patients. Performs all duties in accordance with hospital medical policies and procedures. Assists the doctor in medical, surgical, and dental procedures. Gives injections and administers oral medications in accordance with hospital policy (including IV, IM, and subcutaneous medications). Performs emergency procedures. Assists in restraining animals when necessary. Inducing and monitoring anesthesia using various multiparameter equipment. Recover patients post-operatively. Client communication includes animal care, patient histories, in-patient updates, and diagnostic results. Performing venipuncture and placing intravenous catheters. Taking digital radiographs and monitoring patients for CT and MRI procedures. Placement of Nasogastric tubes, central lines, jug catheters, and urinary catheters. Administer canine and feline blood products. Cross training to include general and specialty surgery, oncology, internal medicine, neurology and critical care. Assist in training other Licensed Veterinary Technicians. Perform administrative duties such as but not limited to: client communication (admissions, discharges, hospitalizations, and medications); entering client data into ezyVet and Smartflow (TPR, weight, etc.); performing additional tasks assigned by management. Laboratory

Performs clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures; draws blood for laboratory analysis; maintains file of lab test results and ensures that test results are recorded in patient records. Pharmacy

Understands usage and dosage for all prescription drugs and can readily explain them to the clients. Maintains an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies as determined by the inventory control system. Education and Experience

Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited school/program (Required) Licensed Veterinary Technician: 1 Year (Preferred) Veterinary experience: 1 Year (Required) License/Certification: New York State Veterinary Technician License (Required) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
