Summary of Job Duties:

The Interventional Radiology Technologist produces IR images for medical interpretation but will not supervise other IR technologists.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED

Registry eligible or Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)

Arkansas Radiologic Technologist License or must be obtained before the start date

IR Advanced Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists must be obtained by 11/1/2020 (current employee) or within 12 months from the date of hire (RAD.AD.1.14)

New grad or up to one (1) year of radiology technologist experience

Additional Information

Educates and prepares patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, draping and positioning the patient, preparing procedural/testing sites, and administering contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice

Assists physician with performing diagnostic and therapeutic vascular interventional procedures

Analyzes results and takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues

Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation

Assists with monitoring patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate

Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment

Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary and keeps coworkers informed of status

Responsible for daily work assignments

Serves in an active role in maintaining ACR accreditation and various JCAHO, FDA, and ODH inspections

Assists in interviewing, selection, and orientation/training of new staff members

Ensures proper staff education requirements

Actively involved in the discipline process when necessary, particularly verbal and written counseling

Maintains knowledge and skills to perform duties

Keeps rooms stocked and equipment cleaned according to department standards. Performs other duties as required or directed

Adheres to time and attendance policy and discusses any variation from the schedule with the manager

Demonstrates willingness to assist in departmental changes to improve workflow and learn new functions and duties as needed to keep the department viable

Participates in rotating on-call schedule

Other duties may be assigned to this position
