Vascular Nurse Practitioner

The nurse practitioner (NP) is responsible for ensuring quality care and best practices for select vascular patients in collaboration with their supervising physician. The NP will provide appropriate assessments, treatments, education, and support the quality initiatives of the cardiovascular service line, including CMS, ACC, STS, and other top performance programs. Perioperative preparation and postoperative management are conducted with other healthcare team members. The NP will also facilitate patient throughput and timely discharge, attending professional education to stay current with practice changes and meet continuing education requirements. Qualifications
Masters of Nursing - Required Registered Nursing License with the State of Practice - Required Advanced Practice License and national board certification in the specialty area (e.g., family practice, acute care) - Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required Core Job Functions
Obtain complete history and physical on new patients, chart and dictate progress notes, consult with physicians on complex cases. Prescribe necessary medications, refer to specialists, order labs and imaging as needed. Assist in surgeries, perform procedures as directed by the vascular surgeon. Manage new patients, including admissions, consults, discharges, and rounding, communicating plans effectively to patients and families. Credentialed within 12 months to perform routine low-risk procedures within established guidelines. Review lab and radiology reports, consult notes, and notify patients of test results.
