Dental Assistant role at Fidelity Partners Services located at Federal Correctional Institute‑Elkton.
Work Location Federal Correctional Institute‑Elkton, 8730 Scroggs Road, Lisbon, Ohio 44432.
Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries and Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
Period of Performance: Time of Award up to five (5) years.
Type of Employment: Part‑time 30 hours per week.
Estimated Pay: $20.91 – $26.00 per hour.
Pay Holidays: Twelve (12) paid holidays.
Paid Time Off: 80 hours, occurring on day one.
Sick Leave: 56 hours, occurring on day one.
Salary Base pay range: $21.00/hr – $26.00/hr.
Work Hours The Dental Assistant will typically work Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays) between 06:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch period. The schedule shall not exceed 40 hours per week.
Summary of Duties Provide services such as retrieving patients' records and escorting them to the appropriate dental specialty section; seating and preparing patients for the attending Dental Officer; assisting the Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments, essential materials, drugs, and medications; passing instruments and performing other related duties.
Responsibilities
Assist Dental Officer in dental specialty sections: restorative, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, prosthetics, and examinations.
Retrieve patients' records and escort patients to the proper dental specialty section; seat and prepare patients for attending to the Dental Officer.
Assist the Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments, essential materials, drugs, and medications.
Abide by FCI Elkton infection control policies.
Pass instruments, retract tissues, irrigate the oral cavity, and operate the aspirator.
Observe patient's responses and assist patient for dismissal from the Dental Clinic.
Give instructions for subsequent dental appointments.
Make necessary entries on dental treatment records (both electronic and paper).
Prepare the dental treatment room for the next patient.
Assist in the treatment of emergency cases.
Provide dental health education.
Perform dental prophylaxis – polishing of coronal portion of teeth if the assistant is a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA).
Perform dental screening examinations.
Prepare patients for periodontal surgery.
Complete dental and periodontal charting.
Prepare, place, and remove packs.
Use dental hand instruments, mechanical instruments (including ultrasonic), oral hygiene aides, and prophylaxis paste to provide necessary oral prophylactic services.
Qualifications
Graduate from a Dental Assistant accredited school or program and/or possess specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification.
Have a Dental Assistant Radiology Certificate and potentially an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) from the state of Ohio.
Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC) or the American Heart Association (AHA).
Three (3) letters of reference.
Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable but not required.
Copies of all certifications and resumes must be forwarded with your application.
Attire The contractors are expected to wear professional clothing while on duty; attire must also be appropriate for the correctional environment.
