Overview
Position Type: Non Classified Job Title: Mental Health Counselor Classification Title: Counselor Campus Location: ASU Beebe The Counselor, working under the general supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Student Services, is responsible for delivering comprehensive counseling services to the university community by providing short-term, solution-focused counseling services. The ideal candidate will promote mental wellness through individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, outreach programs, and collaboration with campus departments. General work schedule: Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with appointments available to all ASUB campuses. Some evening and weekend responsibilities are required, particularly for crisis intervention and special programming. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide individual and group counseling, psychological assessment, and crisis intervention services to currently enrolled students experiencing personal, emotional, and academic concerns. Conduct crisis assessments and interventions, including suicide prevention and referral. Design and implement developmental and outreach programs that promote mental health and well-being. Offer consultation services to student groups, faculty, and staff as needed. Participate in service evaluation and applied research activities related to counseling outcomes. Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards in accordance with state and federal laws and professional codes of conduct. Develop and lead workshops, presentations, and campus-wide initiatives that promote mental health awareness and wellness. Coordinate with community mental health providers for long-term care and specialized services when appropriate. Assist students in identifying resources and making informed decisions related to career development. Refer clients to appropriate on-campus and off-campus resources as needed. Contribute to the student success and the broader academic mission through additional roles such as committee participation, serving as a liaison to academic or administrative units, and engaging in university-wide program development. Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. One to two years of experience providing mental health services, preferably in a higher education setting. Current and valid licensure in Arkansas as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or related credential. Demonstrated understanding of issues impacting college students, including stress, anxiety, depression, identity development, and trauma. Minimum Salary or Salary Range
