General Job Description:

To serve as a case manager for students in order to identify the most appropriate educational environment available to meet the student’s needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Promote an environment/climate conducive to productive performance. Plan for and manage the resources for which he/she is responsible, including personnel, finances, facilities, program, and time. Communicate accurately and effectively. Use supervision, staff development, and performance evaluation to improve the program of the district. Demonstrate leadership. Comply with all school board policies and administrative regulations. Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely manner. Acquire permission to test. Administer appropriate tests. Interpret the results of each instrument administered in terms that can be understood. Explain rights to parents before testing and placement. Knowledge and understanding about each criteria requirement for each exceptionality. Knowledge and understanding about New Mexico standards for Special Education. Explain program levels, services available for the student, and make recommendations that will help the student reach his learning potential. Be available to meet with parents, staff, or administration. Ability to drive from school to school. Ability to participate effectively in the IEP process. Complete other tasks as deemed appropriate by the immediate supervisor and/or the superintendent. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Attend workshops and in-service to stay abreast of changes in standards, assessment strategies, and research findings.

Complete SafeSchools Training as directed by the district. Qualifications:

A master’s degree. NMPED Licensure for Educational Diagnostician. Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired. The following may be required: Sitting, standing, lifting, moving about the room or school, carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture. Equipment/Technology Handled:

Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology. Work Environment:

Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hour work may be required. Terms of Employment:

Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district.
