Job Description The Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role in overseeing pharmacy technician activities related to medication dispensing and order review. This includes interpreting physician prescriptions to ensure accurate medication delivery, identifying potential therapeutic conflicts, and communicating with prescribers to confirm dosage and administration details. The role also involves monitoring drug therapies, reporting adverse events and product complaints, counseling patients, and conducting outreach as required by regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
Review and authorize medication orders by interpreting physician instructions.
Identify prescriptions that fall outside FDA-approved labeling or program guidelines.
Approve orders exceeding FDA dosage limits when supported by appropriate clinical documentation.
Educate patients on medication usage, side effects, dosage, and storage.
Stay current with pharmacological knowledge through continuing education and professional resources.
Collaborate with call center and program staff to ensure timely and accurate medication delivery.
Provide subject matter expertise to internal teams and clients.
Participate in operational reviews and client interactions.
Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, controlled substance regulations, and hazardous waste disposal protocols.
Report prescription errors and follow company procedures for medication incidents.
Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, including performance evaluations, goal setting, and coaching.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharm) required; Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) preferred.
Active and valid Pharmacist license in good standing.
Proficient in basic computer applications and pharmacy systems.
Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
Experience in retail pharmacy, call center operations, and prescription review.
Familiarity with FDA regulations and pharmacological standards.
Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a retail or specialty pharmacy setting.
Skilled in managing processes, ensuring legal compliance, and maintaining quality standards.
Work Environment This is an on-site position within a closed-door, mail‑order specialty pharmacy focused on dispensing high-cost, complex medications directly to patients’ homes. The environment is fast‑paced and compliance-driven, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and patient safety.

Monday‑Friday
11:30 AM - 8:00 PM EST or 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
$60‑62/hr
Pay & Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $62.00/hr.
