Location: Springfield, Illinois (62781) Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Oncology Unit (24 beds) Assignment Type: Locum Tenens, Travel Nursing Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: September 22, 2025 End Date: December 22, 2025 Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (07:15 – 18:45); 3x12 or 4x12 per week Hours per Week: 36 Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,890 – $1,940 Charting System: Cerner Scrub Color: Any solid color Parking: Free permit provided Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license or in application process Minimum 1 year of recent oncology nursing experience Chemo certification preferred (ONS/ONCC, OCN) Experience with Cerner charting system preferred Ability to float within hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered) First-time travel nurses accepted Responsibilities
Deliver compassionate, high-quality care to adult and geriatric oncology patients Administer chemotherapy (IV, oral, continuous infusion, IV push) and manage cytotoxic spills Monitor chemotherapy and recognize/communicate abnormal lab values Perform IV therapy and infusion tasks: accessing ports, central/PICC line care, blood product administration Educate and support patients and families throughout cancer treatment Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, social services, and more Float to other units as required to meet facility needs Apply
