Site-wide Rev. 9 Permit Coordinator (Environmental Specialist 5)
within the Nuclear Waste Program.
Location:
Richland Field Office in Richland, WA.
Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
Schedule:
This position is eligible for telework and flexible schedule options.
A minimum of one day per week is required in the office.
Schedules are dependent upon position needs and are subject to change.

Duties: Join our team as the Nuclear Waste Program’s (NWP) expert on Dangerous Waste (DW) permitting under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). NWP manages and implements Revision 8 and Revision 9 of the DW Hanford Site-wide Permit.
In this role, you will play a key part in reissuing Hanford Site-wide Permit Revision 9, covering 52 dangerous waste management units. You will provide technical expertise and regulatory guidance on complex issues related to the permit reissuance, review, and address comments from federal agencies and the public, and make necessary permit modifications to ensure compliance and regulatory integrity.
What You Will Do:
Lead and coordinate the development and issuance of the Hanford Site-wide Permit.
Manage all permit-related activities in collaboration with the permit coordinator team.
Oversee all phases of the Permit process, including assigning tasks and ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
Serve as a subject matter expert on Dangerous Waste regulations, providing guidance and consultation.
Deliver training and mentorship to NWP staff on permitting processes.
Interpret regulations independently and support development of Fact Sheets, Permit Conditions, Focus Groups, and related documentation.

Required Qualifications:
Ten (10) years of experience and/or education related to environmental work, including:
Reviewing and evaluating permit documents.
Negotiating permits and permit conditions.
Coordinating permitting actions with internal and external teams.
Demonstrated competence in:
Critical and analytical thinking and problem-solving.
Reviewing data and drawing conclusions.
Research and data analysis (qualitative and quantitative).
Education involving a major study in environmental or related sciences, environmental planning, or similar disciplines.
