Position Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment at the Plant and Port Warehouse. This role is responsible for on-shift equipment and facility maintenance, repair, and on-the-spot troubleshooting support. As part of the Maintenance Team, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will work to improve equipment efficiency and throughput by supporting improvement projects and performing preventative maintenance.

Position Responsibilities

Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listen for problems; use precision measuring and testing instruments. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; use hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examine form and texture of parts. Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitor compliance. Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies; place and expedite orders; verify receipt. Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review technical publications; establish personal networks. Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

High school diploma or post-secondary certificate required Minimum of 1-2 years of experience repairing industrial equipment Ability to become forklift certified HACCP certification is preferred Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written; ability to communicate with levels across the organization Desire to problem-solve and continually improve products and services Willingness to work long days; flexibility with work hours and location Safety: will be exposed to moving mechanical parts; follow safety policies and procedures; typical work environment involves noise and various hazards
