Johnson Controls is recruiting for a HVAC Truck Based Mechanic (union) in North Haven, CT. This role supports our fast‑growing HVAC business across North America.
Pay and Benefits Base pay: $50.00/hr (CBA determined hourly rate). Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities
Provide maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
Assist in repairing centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers.
Partner with Journeymen in the repair of commercial HVACR equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using vibration equipment, shaft alignment, and other diagnostic tools.
Provide accurate quotes and solutions, and participate in the Service Plus Rewards program.
Travel 10%–20% to support branch customers.
Qualifications
Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen & Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry.
Minimum 3 years of commercial/industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting experience.
Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
Mechanical shaft alignment and vibration troubleshooting skills.
Ability to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
Strong communication skills; ability to write and communicate with customers.
Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state/local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.
Prioritization of safety in all forms.
