Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited trade school in HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) or equivalent training. Must have Section 608 Universal EPA Certification. Special courses in electrical, pneumatic, direct digital controls, Metasys, facility monitoring/control and power plant systems are desirable.

Experience Four years of journeyman level experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial HVACR systems: boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps. Experience in environmental control systems and the calibration and maintenance of electronic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

Operate, maintain, repair, inspect, troubleshoot, install and test HVACR systems and equipment. Primary equipment includes boilers, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, chillers, freezers, ice machines, compressed air, pneumatics, humidity control, electrical, and monitoring/control systems.

Perform corrosion control and industrial water treatment on systems and equipment. Replace and recover refrigerants on HVACR equipment using CFC/HCFC refrigerants as required.

Utilize technical publications and diagrams to accomplish maintenance, repair and the ordering of materials and equipment. Maintain operations and maintenance records.

Work a single-person shift and cover essential facility maintenance tasks during the shift as needed. Become trained to perform critical HVACR and electrical tasks to support single-person shift operation.

Operate, install, maintain, inspect, test and repair electrical, HVACR, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, water, facility monitoring/controls, variable frequency drives and related systems; ensure documentation of actions.

Complete shift schedule duties including emergency response and janitorial tasks as assigned.

Supervision

Supervision received: Works under the general supervision of the Facility Lead Technician. No direct supervision of others. Work is checked for results achieved. Define own work assignments within guidelines.

Working Environment

Physical tasks: Walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, negotiating tight spaces, using tools and equipment, etc., associated with maintaining industrial systems and equipment.

Working conditions: Ability to work any of three 8-hour shifts (or a combination), overtime as required. Some work areas require hearing protection.

Clearance Requirements

Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.

Employment/start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance.
