Town of Flower Mound
Under general supervision, performs skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and related systems. Responsible for the biological and chemical treatment processes, mechanical operations, and labor activities of the facility. Monitors and operates sewage lift stations and the Town’s water distribution system to ensure effective, continuous service and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Monitors and operates wastewater treatment plant and water distribution system equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, filters, gauges, and meters, to ensure proper system performance.
Monitors wastewater flow, dissolved oxygen, and ammonia concentrations, making necessary process adjustments.
Monitors water storage tank levels and distribution pressures to meet consumer demand for potable water.
Operates biosolids dewatering equipment as needed.
Collects wastewater samples, interprets laboratory results, and adjusts treatment processes accordingly.
Maintains daily operational records and prepares monthly wastewater reports.
Ensures a clean, safe, and orderly work environment in and around all plant processes and buildings.
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, air blowers, and related equipment in a timely manner.
Trains other operators on wastewater treatment, lift station, and water distribution system procedures.
Reports problems, deviations, and unfamiliar situations to the supervisor.
Adheres to all personnel, safety, and departmental policies.
Assists coworkers as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
Must have a valid Texas driver's license and driving record in compliance with Town policy.
Must possess a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class "B" Wastewater Operator License and a Class "C" Water Distribution License prior to offer of employment.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operation is required.
Physical Abilities Must be able to read, write, hear, talk, and walk. Must have good hand‑foot‑eye coordination for operating equipment. Must be able to perform strenuous physical activities, including exerting up to 100 pounds of force; lifting heavy objects; prolonged shoveling; crawling, bending, walking, kneeling, and climbing on and off equipment; and operating vibrating or moving machinery. Must be able to work indoors, outdoors, underground, and in confined spaces, on uneven or muddy terrain, and under noisy conditions. Must be able to work in adverse environmental conditions including inclement weather, fumes, odors, dust, chemicals, and other potential hazards.

Excellent knowledge of the operation, equipment, and materials used in wastewater plants, sewage lift stations, and potable water distribution systems.
Must have basic knowledge of computers, SCADA systems, water treatment chemicals, testing procedures, and math and mechanical skills.
Must be able to work various shifts in a 24 hour period to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
