Job Details The successful Journeyman Electrician will learn and apply electrical code through the NEC, assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial and industrial settings, and uphold a safe work environment while collaborating with the Prism Electric team.
Responsibilities
Assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings.
Prepare work area for equipment installation.
Install or assist with installation of electrical components.
Connect wiring and equipment according to code and job specifications.
Operate equipment only if trained and certified; follow certification requirements for tools such as powder‑activated tools and JLG lifts.
Setup and operate tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers, and cable vacuum systems.
Read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances per drawings or plans.
Secure and lock up equipment after use.
Demonstrate a proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget.
Maintain excellent working knowledge of building codes, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
4+ years of experience as a commercial electrician (Journeyman).
Texas State Electrical License (Journeyman Card).
Valid State Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
Good attendance and punctuality.
Self‑motivated, able to work from descriptions and blueprints.
Proficient in running electrical conduit with precision.
Capacity for layout planning and problem‑solving.
Positive attitude and teamwork orientation.
Reliability and determination to complete projects from start to finish.
Physical and Work Conditions Work requires wearing personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, respirator when required), standing, crawling, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching. Ability to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and perform repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers is required. Work may involve 8–10 hour days, 40‑hour weeks, overtime, night shifts, and weather‑dependent conditions such as heat, cold, and rain.
