Job Description

Staff Management Group is seeking a Production Supervisor for our client in Somerset, NJ. Please read the ENTIRE job description and ALL of the job requirements BEFORE applying for this position.

Schedule

1st Shift available

Must work 12.5-hour shifts 3 days a week

Expected to work on some Saturdays

Total weekly hours will be 37.5

Pay Rate

$24 / hour

Job Summary The Production Supervisor in a fragrance manufacturing facility oversees daily operations to ensure the efficient, high-quality, and safe production of fragrances and related products. This role involves managing production staff, maintaining quality and safety standards, and optimizing workflow to meet production targets while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Job Responsibilities

Lead, train, and oversee production team members in fragrance blending, bottling, and packaging.

Assign and monitor tasks to ensure timely production and adherence to quality standards.

Provide coaching, conduct performance evaluations, and enforce company policies.

Plan and execute daily production schedules to meet customer and business demands.

Monitor raw material usage, ensuring accurate formulation and blending processes.

Troubleshoot production issues, minimizing downtime and optimizing workflow.

Ensure that all equipment operates efficiently and coordinate maintenance when needed.

Ensure all fragrance formulations adhere to company and regulatory standards (e.g., IFRA, FDA, OSHA).

Conduct inspections and collaborate with the Quality Control team to resolve any product deviations.

Maintain detailed records of production processes, batch numbers, and testing results.

Enforce health and safety guidelines, including handling of volatile and flammable materials.

Conduct regular safety training and audits to ensure compliance with industry’s best practices.

Ensure adherence to environmental regulations regarding waste disposal and chemical handling.

Monitor raw materials and packaging inventory, coordinating with procurement to avoid shortages.

Ensure proper storage of fragrance oils and raw materials to maintain integrity and shelf life.

Optimize production efficiency while minimizing waste and costs.

Maintain accurate production logs, reports, and documentation for compliance and audits.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.

Work closely with R&D, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to support new product development and launches.

Job Requirements

MUST be bilingual (English AND Spanish) to qualify.

3+ years of experience in production supervision, preferably in fragrance, cosmetics, or food.

Strong knowledge of fragrance blending, batching, and packaging processes.

Familiarity with industry regulations (IFRA, REACH, FDA, OSHA).

Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate employees.

Experience with production planning, inventory control, and quality assurance.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management software.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, standing for long periods and handling materials safely.

Work Environment

Manufacturing facility handling raw fragrance materials, including oils, alcohols, and other chemicals.

Exposure to strong scents, requiring adherence to safety measures.

May involve shift work, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
