The SCA’s Architecture and Engineering Department is responsible for development of scope, design, and construction documents for new school buildings, additions, lease conversions and renovation work of existing schools for New York City’s approximately 1.1 million students. Our In-House studio is a multidisciplinary practice that is responsible for designing some of the largest and most complex schools in our 1,500+ school portfolio as well as renovation work to existing schools. Computational Designer – New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA). The NYCSCA Design Department is seeking a talented and driven Computational Designer to join our forward-thinking, data-driven design studio. As a key member of our team, you’ll collaborate with senior architects, planners, and engineers on innovative solutions that support the next generation of schools. Responsibilities
Computational / generative design and data analysis. Develop and implement computational design expertise across the department. Build computational models for various projects. Develop internal tools for efficiency and excellence. Collaborate with internal and external clients to understand their needs and develop strategies. Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies, best practices, and software applications. Communicate technical ideas in an accessible manner. Build quality relationships with team members and across the organization. Implement BIM workflows, Using Revit, Dynamo for automation and data manipulation. Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Computational Design, or related fields (Master’s Degree preferred). Strong skills in Rhino and Grasshopper for building complex parametric models. Familiarity with CFD, Daylight a plus. Knowledge of programming languages (Python or C# highly preferred). 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in a professional Architectural firm, Urban Design, Planning, or Landscape Architectural preferred.
