Overview

RN, ICU (30hr, Nights) – Kaiser Permanente Northwest. Under general supervision and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical judgment to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nurses care activities with other health care disciplines. Essential Responsibilities

Assessment: Performs accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs and discharge planning. Identifies deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests. Reassesses patient throughout hospitalization. Performs complete discharge assessment. Planning: Develops an individual nursing plan of care sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient. Coordinates patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital/clinic departments and community agencies. Develops patient teaching plan and documents on care or teaching plan. Delegates patient care activities based on patient condition and scope of practice. Establishes priories for patient care. Classifies acuity level of assigned patients. Implementation: Initiates measures based on protocol for management of medical/surgical patients. Carries out the physician's plan of care. Documents in the EMR according to policy and procedure. Utilizes a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate. Performs procedures correctly, uses available teaching plans for patient education, accurately calculates and administers medications and initiates measures in emergency situations. Evaluation: Evaluates assessment methods, plan of care, and patient responses to treatment. Participates in unit quality assurance activities. Relocation Assistance Available

Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience. One (1) year recent ICU nursing experience or completion of the Kaiser ICU cross-training program. Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program. License, Certification, Registration

Registered Nurse License (Oregon) Advanced Cardiac Life Support NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire Basic Life Support Additional Requirements

Computer keyboarding skills Drug calculation experience Experience in Cardiac Rhythm Recognition Preferred Qualifications

Previous health care experience Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field Two (2) years of recent ICU nursing experience preferred CCRN preferred Dialysis, SLED or equivalent preferred Job Details
