RN – 7E Oncology Medical Unit Summa Health System – Akron Campus Full-Time, 36 hrs/week, 7a-7:30p, every other weekend/holiday Primary patient population: This unit specializes in the care of adults with oncologic needs, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, symptom management, complex care planning, hematologic health and general-medical concerns. Unit Size: 15-bed unit Target Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:6 (subject to change based on census numbers and patient care needs) Highlights

Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho-social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health. Formal Education Required

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but are required to obtain BSN within three (3) years of employment Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by CCNE or ACEN Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio Experience And Training Required

PRN RNs must have at least one-year recent experience in the area of practice One year of related RN experience is required for weekend option positions Additional related prior experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units Other Skills, Competencies And Qualifications

Full range of motion including lifting patients; dexterity and hand-eye coordination Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Corrected vision and hearing to normal range Ability to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazards common to clinical environments Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS may be required for critical care or related areas Population Specific Competency

Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations with respect and dignity Level Of Physical Demands

Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally and 25-50 pounds frequently; 10-20 pounds continuously to move objects Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Salary: $33.75/hr - $53.00/hr. The salary range is base pay exclusive of bonuses or differentials. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
