About This Role Join our veterinary hospital as a
part‑time Veterinary Assistant
and become an integral part of our animal healthcare team. In this hands‑on role, you’ll work alongside our veterinarians and technicians to provide compassionate care for our patients while gaining valuable experience in veterinary medicine.
What Success Looks Like
Compassionate Care Provider: Handle and restrain animals with confidence and gentleness, ensuring their comfort during examinations and procedures while providing reassurance to pets experiencing stress or illness.
Medical Support Expert: Assist our veterinary team with treatments, diagnostics, and surgeries, preparing equipment, monitoring patients, and maintaining accurate records of care provided.
Hospital Caretaker: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of our hospital, ensuring a safe, sanitary environment for our patients, clients, and team members.
Communication Liaison: Relay important patient updates to veterinarians and fellow team members, helping maintain continuity of care and ensuring all staff are well‑informed about patients' status.
Client Educator: Under veterinarian guidance, communicate with pet owners about their animals' care, medications, and home treatment plans, providing clear instructions with empathy and professionalism.
Qualifications
Availability on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays
Genuine compassion and affinity for animals of all species and temperaments
Strong animal handling skills with the ability to safely restrain patients for examinations and procedures
Proficiency with venipuncture, medication administration, sample collection, diagnostic testing, and imaging
Excellent attention to detail in monitoring patients and maintaining medical records
Ability to follow directions precisely when assisting with medical procedures
Effective communication skills with team members and clients
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist with lifting patients
Ability to remain calm and composed in fast‑paced or stressful situations
Willingness to perform cleaning tasks and maintain hospital appearance
Adaptability and eagerness to learn new skills and protocols
Team‑oriented attitude with a positive, helpful approach
High School diploma or equivalent required
3+ years of veterinary medical care experience, required
Anesthesia monitoring experience, preferred
Basic computer skills for maintaining electronic medical records
Associate degree in veterinary technology or continuing education in veterinary science a plus
