Associate Psychologist (NY HELPS)
Location: Bronx Campus, New York City Children's Center, P27230.
Base Pay Range $86,681.00/yr - $109,650.00/yr
Duties Description Associate Psychologist functions as an advanced clinician and provides professional psychological services under the clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist. In addition to assessment and treatment, duties may include:
Clinical leadership
Program management
Forensic or court‑ordered assessment, treatment and expert testimony
Psychological services requiring expertise in neuropsychology, geropsychology, sex offender treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, trauma, substance and/or chemical abuse programs, and specialized assessment (functional, personality, risk, competency, vocational, education)
Design and application of behavioral technology and other specialized psychological interventions
Individual, group or family therapy
Crisis intervention, consultation to other agencies
Training and peer review
Additional duties may also include:
Supervising psychological services provided by clinical staff
Evaluating information from mental health units, probation, parole, district attorneys’ offices, etc.
Assisting in determining the need for admission to a secure treatment facility or release to strict and intensive community supervision and treatment
Developing, reviewing, and overseeing behavior management plans and/or treatment plans
Developing and conducting psychology‑related training for all levels of direct care and clinical staff
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have a doctoral degree in a clinical field of psychology and either (a) a one‑year full‑time pre‑doctoral clinical internship or (b) one‑year of experience under the supervision of a licensed psychologist in a clinical setting.
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
