Respiratory Care Practitioner (NICU/PEDI/ADULT) – Sugar Land Memorial Hermann Health System is hiring a Respiratory Care Practitioner for our Sugar Land location. This role focuses on administering basic and advanced therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to patients across adult and neonatal critical care units.

Job Summary Position responsible for administering basic and advanced therapeutic and diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gases, neonatal procedures, trauma care and ventilator transports for patients with respiratory disorders. Functions as a resource to RCP I, leads advanced patient education, and participates in departmental quality programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or RRT-ACCS or RRT-SDS required. (Incumbents hired prior to 2/18/2019 may be RRT or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)).

Current and unrestricted Respiratory Care Practitioner License with the State of Texas required.

BCLS and one of: ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPFT, RPFT, RPSGT, Asthma Certified Educator, NRP Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor or CPR Instructor.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills

Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience with at least six (6) months in critical care.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform frequent walking, stooping and squatting.

Fine hand dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and ability to receive oral and written communication.

Commitment to an elected schedule with flexibility in patient care areas.

Strong communication skills and commitment to Memorial Hermann’s culture.

Principal Accountabilities

Promote quality patient care, customer satisfaction, safety, and cost efficiency.

Perform respiratory care quality assurance and problem solving.

Administer medical gases, humidifiers, aerosols, and conduct advanced patient education.

Take and follow verbal treatment orders from physicians; evaluate treatment programs and take appropriate action.

Conduct patient assessment, interpret arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests, hemodynamics and chest X‑rays; develop respiratory care plans.

Document accurately in medical records and complete other documentation duties.

Participate in evaluation of new respiratory care equipment.

Maintain current knowledge through continuing education, in‑service training, journals, and conduct inter/intradisciplinary in‑services at least once a year.

Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, standards, and budget specifications.

Promote professional growth, meet mandatory continuing education, serve as preceptor and mentor.

Other duties as assigned.
