Overview
Speech Language Pathologist Location: Various District Schools Timesheet Only, $50/hour Temporary Position Start Date: Immediately Purpose
The job of a Speech and Language Pathologist is for identifying students with communication disabilities; planning and implementing appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impacts on student success; recommending treatment plans; and providing therapy. Essential Functions
Assesses students’ communication skills (e.g., articulation, fluency, voice, expressive, receptive and pragmatic language) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment. Collaborates with parents, teachers, physicians, administration, team members, and other professionals to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in compliance with guidelines. Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g., testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences) for evaluating results, developing treatment plans, providing therapy, and training parents/students/staff. Develops treatment plans, interventions, and educational materials to minimize the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with standards and regulatory requirements. Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies (e.g., augmentative communication systems) to minimize educational impact in accordance with guidelines and legal requirements. Instructs assigned staff on communicative disorders, use of assistive devices, and implementing prescribed treatment plans. Interprets medical reports within the scope of the SLP’s experience and goals to ensure plans are appropriate. Maintains files and records (e.g., progress reports, logs, billing information, treatment plans, required documentation) for reference and compliance. Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey or gather information. Performs other related duties to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit. Prepares written materials (e.g., activity logs, memos, treatment plans, reports, documentation) for documenting activities and conveying information. Provides speech and language therapy to students to minimize the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success. Researches resources and methods for addressing students’ needs (e.g., intervention techniques, assessment tools, community resources). Responds to inquiries from parents, teachers, staff, and students with appropriate information. Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
