University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Department: COM | Biochemistry Moldoveanu Lab Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Research Technician will work on interdisciplinary projects at the interface of protein engineering, structural biology, and chemical biology of programmed cell death pathways (apoptosis, ferroptosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis). This role supports protein production and sample preparation for advanced structural biology studies using cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, and NMR spectroscopy. The successful candidate will work closely with staff scientists to produce high-quality samples and assist with experiments. Responsibilities also include keeping detailed records, interacting with lab members, and contributing to reports and presentations. This position offers opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and participation in a collaborative research environment within the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS. Qualifications: High School diploma/GED plus at least two (2) years of research laboratory experience Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biochemistry or related discipline PLUS two (2) years of laboratory experience, including undergraduate research internships Strong organizational and communication skills (oral and written) Interest in pursuing a career in research or medicine Responsibilities: Perform protein expression in bacterial, mammalian, and insect cells Purify proteins and optimize samples for structural biology applications Prepare and analyze samples using negative staining and cryo-EM vitrification Conduct protein crystallization, freezing, and shipping to national facilities Prepare reports and presentations on experimental progress Perform other duties as assigned Salary Information:
