This leadership role oversees the Labor and Delivery department during night shifts, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The CNC functions as both a Charge Nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager, supporting staff coordination, patient throughput, and adherence to hospital standards while fostering a culture of teamwork, compassion, and clinical excellence.
Pay Range $64,000.00/yr - $96,000.00/yr
Job Responsibilities
Supervise and support nursing staff during assigned shifts to ensure consistent, high‑quality patient care.
Oversee admissions, discharges, and patient flow for efficient department operations.
Act as the on‑site leadership resource for Labor & Delivery, NICU, and Mother‑Baby units during overnight hours.
Provide bedside support, including delivery assistance and OR scrubbing as needed.
Collaborate with management and educators to improve patient satisfaction, staff engagement, and performance outcomes.
Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation of nursing staff.
Monitor supply levels, manage scheduling, and ensure compliance with hospital labor productivity goals.
Support adherence to hospital policies, patient safety initiatives, and clinical quality standards.
Requirements Education
Associate Degree in Nursing required
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience required
Prior leadership experience in Women's Health, L&D, NICU, or Mother‑Baby units required
Certifications / Licenses
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire
Skills or Competencies
Strong leadership and clinical decision‑making skills
Ability to multitask in a high‑acuity environment
Excellent communication and mentoring abilities
