Responsibilities
DYS is seeking a
Psychiatric/DD Nurse (Registered Nurse, RN)
to deliver medical services to youth at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid nursing background and a passion to habilitate youth.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
Provide professional nursing care to youth; administer medications and treatment as ordered by physician, assist with physical examinations, take and record vital signs
Initiate and direct implementation of nursing care plan
Directs delivery of and evaluates psychiatric and nursing care of patients as delivered by nonprofessional staff
Observe, evaluate and record patient behavior, condition and response to medication, treatments and therapeutic activities
Provide immediate medical attention to emergencies (e.g., administer first aid to accident victims; administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation; counsel patient regarding need for medical referrals; arrange transportation to hospital emergency room; contact staff physician for emergency illness or injury when necessary)
Prepare and review records and reports (e.g., incidents, restraints/seclusions, nursing care plans, shift reports, transfers, admissions and discharges)
Writes and review treatment plans and write nursing summaries
Chart and record all medications, treatments and pertinent medical information; complete required reports (e.g., incident, accident); admit and/or discharge patients; instruct patients regarding health maintenance and self-administered medication;
Attend and participate in seminars, conferences and in-service training.
Preferred Qualifications
Leadership, commitment to excellence, professionalism, strong interpersonal communication skills, good judgment of people and situations, change agent, excellent customer service, trauma-responsive, and solution driven.
Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code.
