Lab Technician
Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our team. The role involves navigating the plant environment to obtain liquid samples from silos, conducting various tests on these samples, and ensuring they meet FDA and plant standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining clean lab conditions and accurate documentation.
Responsibilities
Navigate the plant environment to properly obtain liquid samples from silos using FDA and plant standards.
Test samples using lab equipment/instruments, performing tests such as pH, acidity, melting point, viscosity, and solid/fat percentages.
Ensure samples remain within specification range.
Carefully document all activities with dates and signatures to maintain accurate records.
Keep the lab clean to prevent contamination and ensure supplies are refilled regularly.
Follow FDA and plant standards in both the lab and plant environment.
Calibrate equipment daily and perform other routine tasks.
Receive phone calls from the dairy and various parts of the plant.
Continuously multitask to ensure products and samples proceed ahead and meet specifications.
Essential Skills
Experience with quality assurance and quality control.
Proficiency in lab instrumentation and working in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of chemistry, laboratory practices, and biology.
Knowledge of GMP, microbiology, QC, titration, inspection, and analytical chemistry.
Proficiency in data entry and the ability to document and review quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in technical sciences.
1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
The position is onsite at the Elma facility.
Flexibility with work hours is essential, as there may be potential for 6‑day work weeks and 12‑hour shifts based on production and staffing needs.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Elma, NY.
Pay and Benefits
Pay range: $22.75 - $23.25/hr.
