BluePearl Pet Hospital in Peoria, AZ is seeking knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technicians to join our team.
Position Emergency Veterinary Technician
Work Schedule Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, Friday, Saturday — 7 AM to 7 PM
Pay $21.00 – $30.00 per hour. This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system. We also offer a competitive shift differential for eligible hours worked at nights and on weekends.
Shift Differentials
Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.
Shift Differential Examples
Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential
As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will
Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Proficiently perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Mentor and train other co-workers.
Demonstrate patience and empathy to address client concerns.
