Overview

Assembly Technician (Manufacturing) Summary: An Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling products and parts according to customer specifications and detailed work instructions.

Responsibilities

Prep work area with required work instructions and parts lists; gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.

Read, interpret, and adhere to all work instructions.

Assemble all products according to the manufacturers directions, work instructions, and specifications following company procedures and directives.

Utilize hand tools and specialty technical tools to complete the assembly of the product.

Ensure the quality of parts and materials being utilized; report all quality issues or defects to the Department Manager.

Examine the finished product to verify conformance with specifications according to work instructions.

Inventory parts and tools used in the assembling process; maintain tools used to assemble and create the product.

Move, locate, relocate, load, unload, and stack material in the assigned area.

Gather finished orders for movement to the outbound shipping area; ensure the product is labeled and free of damage.

Accurately complete all paperwork/documentation associated with the position.

Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly and follow prescribed safety regulations.

Inspect all equipment daily and report any issues or defects to the Department Manager.

Adhere to quality and customer service standards set forth by the company.

Participate in housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and removing scrap, pallets, cardboard, etc.

Maintain regular and reliable attendance at work.

Participate in TVS SCS quality and excellence initiatives.

Qualifications

Competencies: Communication proficiency; Technical capacity; Teamwork orientation; Decision making; Results driven; High safety regard.

Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk or hear; stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; may lift up to 50 pounds (assistance for greater than 50 pounds).

Work Environment: Busy warehouse with high forklift traffic; PPE includes steel-toed shoes and safety vests; seasonal temperatures.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; strong attention to detail; ability to work with small components; knowledge of safety practices; prior warehouse/JIT experience preferred; basic computer skills and experience with a warehouse management system is a plus.
